Lamar has gone five straight games without multiple touchdown passes

When Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returned to action after missing a month with a hamstring injury, he threw four touchdown passes in a 28-6 win over the Dolphins. In the five games since then, Jackson has thrown a total of two: one, none, none, none, and one. Per NBC Sports research, Jackson’s five-game stretch without multiple touchdown passes is the longest of his career. Regardless of that statistical reality, Jackson looked more like his normal self last Sunday against the Steelers, from the standpoint of his speed and acceleration. And he would have had a second touchdown pass against the Steelers, if the touchdown catch by tight end Isaiah Likely hadn’t been overturned by replay review (erroneously, in our view). The larger problem for the Ravens is that they’ve now lost two games in a row, with their record ping-ponging from 1-5 to 6-5 to now 6-7. They face the Bengals in Cincinnati on Sunday, where game-time temperatures could be close to single digits. Another loss to Ci...

[Week 13] Lamar Jackson has a toe injury

Lamar Jackson has another injured body part. Jackson, who missed more than a month earlier this season with a hamstring injury, has recently been listed on the injury report with knee and ankle injuries. On the Monday report in advance of Thursday’s game against the Bengals, Jackson has a toe injury. He would not have participated in practice, if the Ravens had conducted a full practice. (They held a walk-through.) Since returning on October 30 against the Dolphins, Jackson has seemed to be operating a gear or two below top speed. His rushing numbers are at a career low of fewer than 30 yards per game. As noted by MDS, Jackson has been sacked more times with 195 pass attempts than he was last year with 474 passes thrown. The Ravens nevertheless keep winning. Since handing the Bears their only loss in the past nine games (a game Jackson missed), Baltimore has won five in a row. And they’ve caught the Steelers atop the AFC North at 6-5, with six games to go — two of which will be played...

[Week 10] Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner fined $17,389 for landing on Lamar Jackson with his full body weight

Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner will find his upcoming paychecks more than $34,000 lighter, due to a pair of infractions against the Ravens in Week 10. Turner was fined $17,389 for roughing the passer in the second quarter of the loss to Baltimore. He landed on quarterback Lamar Jackson with his full body weight. Turner also was fined $17,389 for a hip-drop tackle of kicker returner Justice Hill on the opening kickoff of the game. A penalty was called on the roughing violation. No flag was thrown for the hip-drop violation. And, yes, the two fines exceed Turner’s sack total for the year, at 1.5. It’s a fact of which Vikings fans have been keenly aware, especially since Jared Verse was on the board when Turner was selected with the 17th overall pick in the 2024 draft.

[Week 11] Lamar Jackson has no injury designation for Sunday

Image
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said earlier Friday that Lamar Jackson would be "full go" for Sunday's game against the Browns. The team's injury report confirms that. The quarterback does not have an injury designation after a second consecutive full practice. Jackson missed Wednesday's practice with knee soreness. He has completed 70.1 percent of his passes for 1,249 yards with 15 touchdowns and one interception in six games. He’s also rushed for 216 yards with one score. The Ravens ruled out wide receiver Rashod Bateman (ankle), linebacker Jay Higgins IV (knee), running back Justice Hill (toe) and cornerback Marlon Humphrey (finger). Outside linebacker Mike Green (ankle) is questionable.

[Week 10] Lamar Jackson made his 100th career regular-season start

Image
Lamar Jackson guided the Ravens to a 27-19 win over the Vikings in his 100th regular-season start, displaying poise and control despite not posting eye-popping statistics. Jackson completed 17 of 29 passes for 176 yards and a crucial fourth-quarter touchdown to Mark Andrews, while also adding 36 rushing yards on nine carries without committing any turnovers. Jackson's Performance in Context Jackson managed the game efficiently, particularly in the second half where Baltimore leaned more on the run; he took only one sack and avoided any critical mistakes, even knocking down a potentially dangerous deflection late in the fourth quarter. While his completion percentage for this game (58.6%) was lower than usual, several drops by his receivers affected those stats, and his decision-making remained steady even under frequent blitz pressure from the Vikings defense (blitzed on 58% of dropbacks). The two-time MVP played a key role in maintaining composure and securing the tea...

[Week 11] Lamar dealing with knee soreness, but should practice tomorrow

Image
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson did not practice on Wednesday, but he is still anticipated to play this weekend against the Browns. Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh told reporters in his press conference that Jackson is dealing with knee soreness, but should be at practice tomorrow. " He’ll be listed [with] a knee ," Harbaugh said. "So, it’s not the hamstring — nothing there. Some soreness coming out of the game. So, should be OK. Looking forward to practice tomorrow." Jackson missed three games earlier this season with a hamstring injury. Jackson has completed 70.1 percent of his passes for 1,249 yards with 15 touchdowns and one interception in six games this season. He’s also rushed for 216 yards with one TD, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Baltimore’s full injury report will be released late...

Ravens accept $100,000 fine for injury-report violation

The NFL has fined the Ravens $100,000 for last week’s violation of injury report, regarding quarterback Lamar Jackson ’s practice participation on Friday of last week. The Ravens have accepted their punisment. “It is critical that the Baltimore Ravens always operate with integrity and in full accordance with NFL guidelines,” the team said in a statement. “We clearly made an error regarding player injury reporting and cooperated transparently with the league’s investigation. “We accept the decision by the NFL that we violated the policy and have taken steps to ensure that we will be compliant moving forward. We will not appeal the ruling and are focused on our upcoming game versus the Vikings.” On one hand, it’s admirable that they’re taking their medicine. On the other hand, the medicine is a lot less potent than it could or should have been. Besides, what would have been the basis for an appeal? They clearly violated the policy. The fine resulted from the accidental vi...
